This is another of my art friends. His name is Focus because that is how he came to be, with my conscious focus on each brushstroke. As I imagined Focus into being I decided where each brush stroke should go and then laid it down…and left it alone. The power of Focus is that he is not blended into a muted pastel life. Focus has become my painting talisman. He has the pride of an eagle, the luster of a peacock and the focus to live a soaring colorful life.
The Painted Raven will be at the Live Show at The Randy Higbee Gallery. He will also be at the online show
with his buddy, a bird called “Focus” Check them out!

Meet Artist Francine Dufour Jones
By Marie Green
Alaska is a land unique on this planet for many reasons. Not the least of which is the incredible number and diversity of the visual artists who call it home. My quest was to interview one who stood out in the crowd – Francine Dufour Jones. She is not an easy person; her fellow travelers must accept that she thrives on challenge, and change and seeks them out in her artistic life.
After a wonderful and typically unusual romance, Francine married her Alaskan man five years ago and come to live in this land that was so foreign to her Hawaii, Californian background. There is still the excitement in her voice as she talks about how she decided to develop her arts in this land that looked like faery book places where she had been skiing once a year.
